Head Coach Meet Report: M&B's top swimmers travelled to Edinburgh for the Scottish National Open Championships last weekend. The flagship event of the domestic swimming calendar featured several Olympic bound athletes and included a modest group of nine M&B swimmers, making the step up to senior national level. M&B travelled to Aberdeen last week (10-14 April) for the Scottish Age Group National Championships. In all, 17 swimmers made the trip, competing in 49 individual races and 3 relays, finishing with 33 long course personal best times, 11 finals and 1 medal. Hayden (2 swims, 2 finals, 1 bronze medal) led the finishers with a fantastic bronze medal in his first Scottish national championships. M&B returned to West District action at the weekend (17-18 Feb) winning 1 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze medals over the two day competition. Leading the way was Grace on backstroke, backing up her recent breakthrough short course backstroke swims with strong long course performances over 100m (gold) & 50m (bronze). From Craig Houston: M&B travelled to Glenrothes on Saturday (16 Dec) to compete in the B final of this year's National League competition. 23 swimmers from the club contested 24 individual events and 12 relays, finishing 6th overall in a very competitive final. PBs from Ben and Abi and top place finishes for our Girls Open 200 Free relay (Grace, Sarah, Abi and Hannah), Ruaraidh in the Boys 15u 50m Freestyle and Grace in the Girls Open 50 Freestyle highlighted some tough racing. From Craig Houston: Nine M&B swimmers were competing at the Scottish Short Course Nationals in Edinburgh at the weekend. The team of Katie, Ben, Grace , Calum and Eilidh, Rose, Eilidh and Sarah (plus masters swimmer Eva) raced against the best swimmers in the country across 3 days, finishing with 13 personal bests. Top finisher was Grace in the 50m freestyle, placing fifth in the C final. Congratulations to the swimmers for their qualification and performances.

We have got the green light to get back into the New Allander from this Monday when it opens on the 6th March (subject to any last minute delays that may prevent the Allander opening on time). West District Sprints - September 2022, Tollcross I feel like I am saying this about many meets we are swimming at but it was great to be back! WD Sprints has always been a great curtain raiser for the season, a great opportunity to shake off the racing rust and we certainly did that.
