New Allander Rules & Protocol

Adam Riley

Myself & Kris had a tour of the building today and let's just say - Wow, we are in for a treat! Everything looks great and well thought out and we are even more buzzing to be starting back next week.

We spoke about a few minor changes to our routine when entering the building & getting changed

One of the coaches will be in the foyer on Monday, Tues & Wed to make sure this process runs smoothly. But here is what is expected:

1. Car Parking Limited - The centre only has 80 parking spaces so the car park is going to be very busy and congested. We would suggest that you park at Aldi or the Burnbrae and walk across.

2. Entering the Building - Swimmers will go up to the reception area and say they are with M&B, the receptionist will let them through.

3. Getting Changed - We will aim to get changed in the red changing area, the centre want us changing close together so they can cordon it off from the public. There will be no bags allowed on poolside. So you can either bring £1 (returnable) for the locker or we have a group changing area where we will store our bags. Kit bags (and medical requirements) are allowed on poolside.

4. Club Lanes - We will swim on the far side from the changing room entrance

5. Capacity Numbers - We are anticipating that the sessions might be busy, but we have given the management assurances that there will be no more than 7 in a lane, so if numbers exceed this then we will swim in waves/ take turns. This is great as it offers everyone a chance to get back into the pool without having to put a limit on numbers

6. Parents - the management have requested that no parents are on the balcony for the first 2 weeks. They are keen to understand their footfall/ capacity numbers and iron out any issues for their new entry protocols, so they are keen on just 'active customers' going through the turnstiles in the first instance. There is plenty of space in the foyer with a clear sight into both pools, so you can still see how things are getting on.

7. Showers - There are two sets of showers next to each other but we have been told to use a max of one shower block, leaving the other one available to the public/ swimming lessons etc

8. Early Mornings - we will only be allowed in the building at 6.15am so can swimmers come 'swim ready' to maximise what little time we have in the water. Entry into the building may start to become earlier as the staff get used to opening up, taking the pool cover off and put out the lanes ropes but for now it is important we work with the centre and respect their wishes.

There may be more requests added to this list before we start on Monday. Let's abide by these rules and create patterns that are easy to remember and repeat, then we blend into the running of the pool and we become a positive presence around the centre.
